An actor, choreographer, and painter, Gene Masoner graduated from the University of Kansas and subsequently became a corps de ballet dancer at the New York City Opera and at Radio City. He appeared on Broadway in three shows: Angel, Shenandoah and Something’s Afoot. Off-Broadway, his performing credits included The White Devil (for which he also designed the set, costumes, and makeup) and Three Drag Queens From Daytona. His obituaries, in the New York Times and Dance Magazine, both describe him as a choreographer, but no specific works are mentioned. Masoner died of AIDS-related causes.
