At the time of his death, Robert Durr was a graduate student in composition. He was studying with composer Michael Schelle, who wrote to us about Durr in 2000:

"His last piece (unfinished) was a flute concerto written for the Springfield (MA) Symphony Orchestra, Ray Harvey was to conduct.

"The piece was called Blind in One Eye — and our final lessons were in his hospital room."
