Composer, Organist, Organ Builder
Jeff Jones, May 20, 1991, in Mainz, Germany, at age 31, of complications from AIDS. He graduated from Sam Houston State University, where he was a student of Sherryl Smith-Babbitt. He completed an apprenticeship program in organbuilding with Oberlinger Orgelbau in Germany and continued to work for that firm until his death. [Jones] was active in the European AGO Chapter and wrote the feature cover article published in the April 1987 issue of The American Organist on the Oberlinger organ at Christ Church Cathedral, Nassau, the Bahamas….A memorial service was held at the Anglican parish of Christ the King in Frankfurt, where some of [his] choral music was sung.
