Train, Man, Dice 3, by David Nelson, and Philip, 1994 by Eric Rhein,
both deal with the death of close friends and remembrance. Nelson's
delicately drawn works on paper capture the nostalgia of childhood and
evoke memories of times lost. Happy and simple associations with one's
favorite toy become signifier's of an uncomplicated life in which
unanimated figures can take on specific meanings and interpretations.
