- Videotape the signing of your will to demonstrate you were aware of your actions. If you are in poor physical condition, however, this could be used to contest the will.

- Ask your lawyer about using an "in terrorem" clause. This means that if you give something to a family member in your will and they contest the will unsuccessfully, they lose the original bequest.

- Discuss your wishes and your situation frankly with family members (and others who would have a right to inherit if you die without a will) to avoid unnecessary contests. Let them know your wishes.

- Include your doctor, other health care professionals and service providers in discussions about your will and in the signing of your will.

Remember that you can always change your will or make amendments to it with the help of your attorney. This is of special importance to artists who continue making work after their will is drawn.
